This year, the attractive white church in Groet forms the backdrop for the brand new summer event: ZomerGroet. Every Monday evening in the summer months, in July and August, the picturesque village square turns into a vibrant festival location. The traditional fair, which has existed for 40 years, is now supplemented with a broader program for young and old. Where meeting, fun and food are central. Here you will find live music, street theater, children's activities and delicious dishes from the food trucks.

Summer evening market

In the months of July and August, the summer evening market takes place on Tuesdays in the center of Schoorl. Come by from 3:30 PM - 9:00 PM and feast your eyes on this diverse market. The evening is supplemented with food trucks, street theater, music and activities for children at the climbing dune. There is always a performance at the Blue Baboon from 8:00 PM. There is something for everyone. There is also a lot of fun! Take a look at the nice restaurants where you can enjoy a delicious snack and a drink.

Wreckage trunk market

The Wrakhout trunk markets will start again in Camperduin in July. The markets are organized on all Sundays in July and August. The first is on Sunday, July 7, 2024 and the last on Sunday, August 25, 2024.

Second-hand goods are offered for sale here by anyone who wishes, from a car, a cargo bike or a display next to the car.

The market takes place next to the beach entrance of Camperduin (Schoorl), along the cycle path at the foot of the sea wall and the Hondsbossche dunes. The location offers a beautiful view of the Harger nature reserve and Pettemer polder. A visit to the market can be easily combined with a day at the beach of Camperduin, a walk on the dike or a bike ride through the polder.

Bee exhibition Schoorlse Duinen

Come to the bee exhibition in Buitencentrum Schoorlse Duinen and delve into the world of bees! Staatsbosbeheer organizes the bee exhibition annually with the beekeepers of the Noord-Hollands-Midden Bee Association. This exhibition can be seen from August 5 to 31, 2024 and introduces you to wild bees and honeybees. On various days during the exhibition you can follow activities such as honey swinging and wax melting. Rachel Kuiper exhibits her paintings that she makes with beeswax.

Beach trek

Walk on the beautiful beach of Camperduin and Hargen and be pampered by the beach pavilions along the way. Enjoy a nice meal and go out with your family, a group of friends or colleagues. Special, but equally tasty snacks are provided for children and vegetarians!

Delicious Surinamese Saoto soup. Clear broth of chicken, ginger, galangal, lemongrass and salam leaf. Filled with bean sprouts, fried onions, fries, chips, fried noodles, half a boiled egg and rice.

Refined vegetarian tartare made from freshly marinated beets, served with creamy goat cheese, arugula and roasted nuts, perfectly balanced with a fresh vinaigrette.

Prince George: Chicken satay from Ackerman with Fries from Zuyd

Classic Indonesian chicken satay from poulterer Ackerman, served with a rich peanut sauce, crispy Fries from Zuyd and a fresh salad.

Map and compass run in the Schoorlse Duinen

Discover the Schoorlse Duinen with map and compass! You find your way through the forest and dune area. Along the way you climb the highest dune in the Netherlands and do questions and assignments from the assignment booklet. This activity is not only fun and sporty, but also educational! Fun for adults and children.

Fair Greetings at Eetcafé Mereboer

Sunday August 4 will be a wonderful day! After the fair football tournament at Duinrand S, the party continues at Mereboer, with none other than DJ Sammy J who will keep the evening moving at 10 p.m.!

And we're not done yet! On Monday, August 5, we will go all out with a performance by Dutch singer Jeffrey Lind at 8 p.m., followed by a dazzling finale with DJ Jacco Silver at 10:30 p.m.!

Treasure hunting at the Climbing Dune: help the pirates! - Schoorlse Duinen

Ahoy adventurers! After a fierce sea battle, the pirates are stranded on the beach. Their ship was destroyed by the infamous Blackbeard, who was after their gold. With their last strength, the pirates dragged the heavy treasure chest through the dark Schoorl dunes in search of food and water. But at the top of the climbing dune the unthinkable happened: a pirate fell and the treasure chest fell out of their hands! The lid popped open and all the gold pieces rolled down. It's a disaster! Without gold the pirates can't do anything anymore. And now they need your help! Come to the Climbing Dune and help search for the lost gold pieces. Will you find one of the 5 valuable gold pieces? Then a special reward awaits you! And as a thank you for your help, each child receives a voucher for a delicious ice cream at De IJsbeer in the center of Schoorl.

Put on your pirate costume and experience an exciting adventure with us. Together we will find the treasure! See you then, would-be pirates! ‍️

Viewing party Schoorlse Duinen

Viewing parties are meetings in and with the Schoorlse Duinen. You immerse yourself in the moment. In silence and in contact with the place where you are at that moment. So you go out to see the sun rise, lie on your stomach to hear the bees buzzing on the heath pollen or listen to a natterjack toad concert. Even for us forest rangers and Schoorlse Dune Guides it is a different encounter every time because every moment is unique. The light, the temperature or the weather color the moment. What remains are unique experiences that you can still enjoy, even years later. Are you coming along on the road?

Photography workshop Schoorlse Duinen

Want to know more about photography in nature? Come to the Schoorlse Duinen for a workshop by the experienced photographer Frank Nieuwenhuizen. In this workshop you will mainly learn to look in three hours. Due to the diversity of landscapes in the Schoorlse Duinen, this area is ideal for taking beautiful photos.

Themes
The theme of the workshop depends on the time of year, the (weather) conditions, etc. In October, the theme is of course autumn! Follow multiple workshops and get better and better images from your camera.

Shooting stars above the Schoorlse Duinen

Every night a few shooting stars can be seen, but a few times a year many fall in one night, the so-called star showers. Join us on a tour of the Schoorlse Duinen with guides from Metius Observatory from Alkmaar. Along the way we stop at a beautiful place, where you can lie on a mat you brought along and look at the sky. Hopefully you will see shooting stars. A special experience for the whole family!

Heath walk Schoorlse Duinen

Walk with the Schoorlse Duinengids to the most beautiful heathlands in the Schoorlse Duinen. August is the flowering month of the heather and then the fields turn beautiful purple. The flowering heather attracts many insects, which get their nectar here. Listen to the buzzing of a heather tussock and discover which insects live here and for whom they are food.

Outdoor day Schoorlse Duinen

Go on an expedition in the Schoorlse Duinen with the whole family every third Sunday of the month. Dive into the green world in and around the outdoor center. You will undertake an outdoor activity together with a Schoorlse Duinen guide. Experience nature together and look for plants and animals in the dunes. During this educational and active morning or afternoon, children discover nature with their parents. Each month has a different theme.

Tree cycle tour Schoorlse Duinen

Cycle past the centuries-old trees of the Schoorlse Duinen! The Schoorlse Duinen are the highest dunes in the Netherlands. Long ago there was a large drifting sand mass here. To capture this sand mass, Staatsbosbeheer started planting trees on a large scale 125 years ago. Yet there were already trees in the dune. You will see some of those old, thick and special trees during this bike tour. You can visit the 120-year-old Corsican pine with an impressive circumference of 3.22 meters. There are also many irregularly shaped oak trees in the Schoorlse Duinen. Under the influence of the extreme conditions, they have become true works of nature.

Full moon walk Schoorlse Duinen

Join an exciting walk in the dark through the Schoorlse Duinen, in the atmosphere of the full moon. Along the way you will receive explanations about nature and the starry sky from guides from Staatsbosbeheer and Metius, the Alkmaar Weather and Astronomical Association. Together you wander over uneven forest paths and over dunes, where traces of the 2009 fire can still be seen. The weather can be beautifully clear, with plenty of moonlight, but there can also be clouds or a heavy rainy sky. Anyway, the walk continues!

Herbal walk

Go out and be surprised by the various ways in which the 'weeds' around you can be used; from culinary seasonings to medicinal applications. Marvel at the versatility of nature as you learn how to recognize, collect and use plants in your daily life. The walk is not a long trek, but an opportunity to slow down and marvel at the nature around us. You will regularly reflect on the plants, their characteristics and their applications. In the meantime, you pick the ingredients for a steaming cup of herbal tea with a small snack that is prepared on site.

Photography with your smartphone Schoorlse Duinen

Smartphone photographer Linda Smit (@vlinderlin) takes you to the most beautiful places in the woods and heathland of Schoorl. She makes you look differently during a 2-hour walk and tells you all about how you can best capture it with your smartphone. The topics covered include: use of light, sharpness/depth, composition, movement, wide angle/panorama, macro photography, etc.
After 2 hours of walking and taking photos outside, attention will be paid to post-processing and enhancing your most beautiful photo inside the visitor center, while enjoying a cup of coffee or tea and something tasty.
